A New England Road Trip

Friday, December 4, 2015

Chris and I kept our eyes on the fall foliage forecast in October and made sure to plan a road trip through the New England states during peak colors, which worked out great because we were able to go during the three day Columbus weekend. The weather was perfect and crisp, the leaves were vibrant and the food was incredible, from the fried dough with maple icing to the duck flambé at a two-hundred year old tavern. Being able to see four states in one weekend is one of the reasons I love the northeast, among many others. The beauty in Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine during this time of year is unparalleled to anywhere else in the United States, so without any further ado, our New England Road Trip...

Leaf Peeping in the Berkshires

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

As summer faded into fall, Chris and I anxiously awaited for an opportunity to venture out of the city and into the mountains to get a glimpse of our favorite time of year. On a beautiful September Sunday, we hopped in the car and headed to the Berkshires in western Massachusetts.

Chris had a walk down memory lane as we stopped at Camp Greylock, where he and his friend spent the summer teaching waterskiing back in college. The security guard obviously didn't remember Chris because he let us right in to walk around...

As we made our way through the Berkshires, weaving in and out of New York and Massachusetts, and stopping at a little cafe for some apple cider cocktails, we ended the day at Bash Bish Falls State Park. The trail came to a beautiful waterfall that Chris had also visited during his stay at the camp. It was a great day catching the first glimpse of fall, or as the New Englanders have dubbed it, 'leaf peeping'...

More 'peeping' to come!

Labor Day Weekend in Skaneateles, NY

Thursday, October 8, 2015

Last month we were invited to join our friends at their family's lake house in Skaneateles, NY for Labor Day weekend. We spent 4th of July with them last year and had a blast so we were thrilled to be able to go back for round two! The weather was absolutely perfect and the water was actually warm (for northeast standards). We couldn't have asked for a better weekend, from the activities to the food to the company!

We loved every minute of the weekend, it was the perfect end to a great summer! Thanks Dienst family!

Whale Watching Off The Cape

Friday, August 21, 2015

Last weekend, after dropping a friend off at the airport, we decided on a whim that it was the perfect day to go whale watching. So we made our way through Cape Cod, stopping along the way to snap pictures of lighthouses and ended at the very tip of the Cape, Provincetown. Good ol' Ptown. It is a very happy, very vibrant town with fun little shops, quaint restaurants and an eclectic crowd. Needless to say, I could get used being called 'pretty lady' and watching Chris get cat-called... but we'll just have to come back for more of that.

A perfect New England sunset summed up a perfect summer day in Cape Cod. The humpback whales were magical and I'm so glad to have a spontaneous, adventurous husband to share these incredible moments with. Whale watching off the Cape will go down in the books!
